Accounting - Associate of Applied Science Degree

The Accounting AAS degree program is a sequence of courses designed to prepare graduates for entry-level employment as accounting assistants. The program provides learning opportunities which introduce, develop, and reinforce academic and occupational knowledge, skills, and attitudes required for job acquisition, retention, and advancement. Additionally, the program provides opportunities to retrain and upgrade present knowledge and skills. Completion of the program of study leads to an Associate of Applied Science degree in Accounting.

PROGRAM LENGTH
A minimum of 102 credit hours is required for graduation. A full time student can expect to complete the program in 5 - 7 quarters.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES
A graduate of this program will be qualified for the following positions: balance clerk, payroll clerk, procurement clerk, credit clerk, traffic clerk, stock-control clerk, shipping order clerk, clerk teller, transit clerk, accounting clerk, billing typist, insurance clerk, bookkeeper, cost clerk, classification control clerk, traffic-note clerk, general-ledger bookkeeper, billing-control clerk, audit clerk, account-information clerk, or related employment.

ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS
Age:
Applicant must be 16 years or older.
Education: A high school diploma/GED is required.
Program Acceptance/Placement: Applicant must achieve program ready or provisional scores on the ASSET placement test (or submit acceptable SAT/ACT scores.) Applicants who do not attain the minimum scores may take refresher/remedial instruction in order to meet admissions requirements.
