Basic Electronics I - Technical
Certificate of Credit

The Basic Electronics I is designed to prepare
students for entry-level careers in printed circuit
board installation and maintenance. Students develop competencies
in AC and DC circuits,
soldering technology and solid state devices. Learning opportunities
further develop academic,
technical, and professional knowledge and skills required
for job acquisition, retention, and
advancement. Courses may be applied towards advanced study
in the field of electronics.
Length of Program
A minimum of 28 credit hours is required for graduation.
A full time student can expect to
complete the program in 2-3 quarters.
Employment Opportunities
Program graduates are prepared for entry-level positions
in a variety of industries requiring
printed circuit board installation and maintenance.
Admissions Requirements
Age: Applicant must be 16 years or older.
Education: A high school
diploma/GED is required.
Program Acceptance/Placement: Applicant
must achieve program ready or provisional
scores on the ASSET
placement test (or submit acceptable SAT/ACT scores). Applicants who do not
attain the minimum scores may
take refresher/remedial instruction in order to meet admissions requirements.
