Emergency Medical Technology Intermediate - Certificate

The Intermediate Emergency Medical Technology Technical Certificate of Credit program is designed to provide the intermediate level component of training and increased knowledge and skills in specific aspects of advanced life support to receive Emergency Medical Technician Certification in the state of Georgia. The program provides learning opportunities which introduce, develop, and reinforce academic and occupational knowledge, skills, and attitudes required for job acquisition, retention and advancement. Additionally, the program provides opportunities to upgrade present knowledge and skills. Completion of the program of study leads to certificate in Intermediate Emergency Medical Technology. Program graduates are eligible to sit for the National Registry Examination.

Length of Program
A minimum of 24 credit hours (328 contact hours) is required for graduation. A full time student can expect to complete the program in 3 quarters.

Employment Opportunities
A graduate may find employment as an Emergency Medical Technician with an ambulance service or in other related employment.

Admissions Requirements
Age: Applicant must be 18 years or older.
Education: A high school diploma/GED is required
Other: Applicant must provide documentation of the following:physicians examination, a notarized statement verifying that he/she is not drug/alcohol dependent, a notarized statement that he/she has not been convicted of a felony, physician’s statement to the students ability to lift 80 pounds and maneuver, valid driver’s license, TB statement, and HBV acceptance/declination statement.
Program Acceptance/Placement: Applicant must achieve program ready on the ASSET placement test (or submit acceptable SAT/ACT scores). Applicants who do not attain the minimum scores must take refresher/remedial instruction in order to meet admissions requirements before entering the program.
