Fire Science Technician - Technical
Certificate of Credit

The purpose of the Fire Science TCC is to prepare graduates
for an entry level position in with fire departments, public
safety agencies, and other agencies, businesses, or industries
that require a trained fire fighting technician for fire
safety purposes. The inclusion of the degree level general
education classes is designed for those entry level settings
that require a higher degree of proficiency in written and
oral communication and for a seamless admission in the Fire
Science degree program.
Length of Program
A minimum of 58 credit hours is required for graduation.
A full time student can expect to
complete the program in 5-6 quarters.
Employment Opportunities
Graduates are prepared for entry level positions with fire
departments, public safety agencies, and other agencies,
businesses, or industries that require
a trained fire fighting technician for fire safety purposes
Admissions Requirements
Age: Applicant must be
16 years or older.
Education: A high school
diploma/GED is not required.
Program Acceptance/Placement: Applicant
must achieve program-ready or provisional
scores on the ASSET placement test
(or submit acceptable SAT/ACT scores).
Applicants
who do not attain the minimum scores
may take refresher/remedial instruction
in order to meet admissions requirements.
