Social Work Assistant - Associate of Applied Science Degree

The purpose of the Social Work Assistant degree program is designed to prepare individuals interested in working with people to obtain entry-level employment in public and private social services agencies. The social services worker is equipped with skills, knowledge, values, and sensitivity to effectively serve human needs in a variety of community settings including nursing homes, substance abuse facilities, family support agencies, DFACS, and other public service agencies.

PROGRAM LENGTH
A minimum of 104 credit hours is required for graduation. A full time student can expect to complete the program in 8 quarters.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES
Graduates who are current practitioners will benefit through enhancement of career potential. Entry-level persons will be prepared to pursue diverse opportunities in the corrections, security, investigation, and police administration fields.

ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS
Age: Applicant must be 16 years or older.
Education: A high school diploma/GED is required.
Program Acceptance/Placement: Applicant must achieve program ready or provisional scores on the ASSET placement test (or submit acceptable SAT/ACT scores.) Applicants who do not attain the minimum scores may take refresher/remedial instruction in order to meet admissions requirements.
