Patient Care Assisting (CNA) -
Certificate

The patient care assisting program is a sequence of courses
designed to prepare graduates for entry level employment
as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or a Patient Care
Assistant (PCA). The program provides an emphasis on general
concepts of basic patient care by introducing and developing
occupational knowledge of skills and attitudes required for
job acquisition, retention and advancement. Upon completion
of the program, the graduate will be administered a competency
test for Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in the State of
Georgia. Upon employment in various health settings, the
graduate works under the direct supervision of a licensed
nurse.
Length of Program
A minimum of 16 hours is required for graduation. A full time student can expect
to complete the program in one quarter.
Employment Opportunities
Graduates may find employment in nursing homes, home health agencies and hospital
settings.
Admissions Requirements
Age: Applicant must be
16 years or older.
Education: A high school
diploma/GED is required.
Program Acceptance/Placement: Applicant
must achieve program ready on the ASSET
placement test or COMPASS test or submit
acceptable SAT/ACT scores. Applicants
who do not attain the minimum scores
may take refresher or remedial instruction
in order to meet admission requirements.
Upon acceptance to the program, a physical
exam must be documented.
