Mammography - Technical Certificate
of Credit

The Mammography Technical Certificate program
is designed to provide educational opportunities to radiographers
that will enable them to obtain knowledge and skills necessary
to succeed in the modality of Mammography. Courses are designed
to include both content specifications for the ARRT’s Examination
in Mammography and the MQSA requirements for clinical competency.
Length of Program
A minimum of 16 credit hours is required for the technical certificate. A student
can expect to complete the program in 2-3 quarters. Program graduates are eligible
to sit for the certification examination of the American Registry of Radiologic
Technologists upon completion of all required competencies.
Employment Opportunities
Upon certification Radiographers may expect to obtain employment as a certified
mammographer in a hospital, clinic, or physician’s office.
ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS
Age: Applicant must
be 18 years or older.
Education: High School
Diploma or GED required.
Other: Applicants must
be certified by the American Registry
of Radiologic Technologists. Recent graduates
of a Radiologic Technology program accredited
by the Joint Review Committee on Education
in Radiologic Technology are also eligible,
but must successfully sit for the certification
examination of the ARRT prior to beginning
the Mammography program. Applicants must
provide documentation of a physical examination
and proof of professional liability insurance
(insurance may be purchased through the
college).
