Program Information

West Georgia Technical College offers a 21-month
program in the theory and practice of Radiologic Technology.
A student can expect upon graduation to work as a radiographer,
a person who performs diagnostic imaging examinations, working
closely with a radiologist, a physician who interprets medical
images to either diagnose or rule out disease or injury.
For the images to be interpreted correctly by the radiologist,
the imaging examination must be performed properly by a radiologic
technologist. The student may work in the hospital setting,
clinic, or physician’s office. There are also opportunities
in the many post-certification areas with additional education
and clinical experience; CT, MRI, Mammography, Sonography,
Nuclear Medicine, or Radiation Therapy among others.
Including the prerequisite core classes, the Radiologic
Technology program takes approximately 9-10 quarters to complete.
After completing the core and being admitted into the program,
the student can expect to graduate in seven quarters. The
student participates in a structured didactic and clinical
curriculum as outlined in the Georgia Department of Technical
and Adult Education Radiography Standards, and the Curriculum
Guidelines of The American Society of Radiologic Technologists.
