Radiologic Technology Degree -
Purpose Statement
The Radiologic Technology Program is committed to providing
an educational experience for the student that supports the
purpose of West Georgia Technical College. Faculty and administration
seek to promote knowledge, psychomotor skills, and behavioral
attributes needed for the graduate to succeed in the ever-advancing
profession of the imaging sciences. The program curriculum
is designed to include student learning outcomes required
to successfully enter and succeed in the field of radiography:
oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills,
clinical expertise, ethical behavior, and the ability to
think critically and make decisions as needed to safely radiograph
patients. To further ensure the graduate’s success,
the program is committed to providing an educational foundation
in the humanities, social and behavioral sciences, natural
sciences and mathematics while promoting the student’s
awareness of the need for lifelong learning.
Radiologic Technology Student Learning Outcomes
1. Graduates will communicate effectively in the clinical
setting by oral and written communication methods, identifying
barriers for age-specific and cultural diverse populations.
2. Graduates will perform entry-level routine and non-routine
radiographic imaging procedures, analyze and critique the
resulting images and make adjustments as needed.
3. Graduates will demonstrate exemplary work ethics or behavior
by displaying individual responsibility, integrity, and good
use of time.
4. Graduates will demonstrate an interest in professional
development and growth and a desire for life-long learning.
5. Graduates will graduate in a reasonable timeframe, pass
the ARRT certification examination, and gain employment as
a registered radiographer.
