Advanced Welding Specialist - Technical
Certificate of Credit

The Advanced Welding Specialist TCC program is designed
for those students who choose to further their education
after completing the Basic Welding Specialist certificate.
consists of a sequence of courses that prepares a graduate
for entry-level employment in the welding field. The program
provides learning opportunities which introduce, develop,
and reinforce occupational knowledge, skills, and attitudes
required for job acquisition, retention, and advancement.
Additionally, the program provides opportunities to retrain
and upgrade present knowledge and skills. Completion of the
program of study leads to certificate in Advanced Welding
with a specialization in shielded metal arc welding, gas
metal arc welding, and gas tungsten arc welding.
Length of Program
A minimum of 29-30 credit hours is required for graduation. A full time student
can expect to complete the program in 3 quarters.
Employment Opportunities
A graduate may find employment as a shielded metal arc welder, gas metal arc
welder, gas tungsten arc welder, or in related employment.
Admissions Requirements
Age: Applicant must be
16 years or older.
Education: Applicant must
have completed West Georgia Tech’s Basic
Welding Specialist certificate program.
A high school diploma/GED is not required.
Program Acceptance/Placement: Applicant
must achieve program ready or provisional
scores on the ASSET placement test (or
submit acceptable SAT/ACT scores). Applicants
who do not attain the minimum scores
may take refresher/ remedial instruction
in order to meet admissions requirements.
