Adult Basic Education
More than 70% of all Georgia employees entered the workforce at
a time when only strong backs and quick hands were needed. Jobs
required little reading, writing, and computational skills. However,
today's employers must utilize rapidly changing technology and
comply with increasingly complex regulations. Reading, writing,
language, and job-related basic skill application are now required
of all employees. At West Georgia Technical College, the Adult Literacy Program
provides literacy skills, a full range of GED preparation and job
readiness skills to students at locations in Heard, Meriwether,
and Troup Counties.
Workforce learning programs are available to evaluation employee skill levels
in reading, mathematics, and language skills along with their ability to perform
job specific tasks requiring skill application. Programs may then be developed
and implemented to meet those needs. Employees may receive classes in the community,
at West Georgia Technical College or on the job site.
Services provided are:
