Head Coach Stephanie Herrera
Stephanie Herrera is beginning her college coaching career at West Georgia Tech. Herrera brings a wealth of coaching experience, having coached several youth teams that produced several top players across the state with elite organizations such as the Atlanta Vipers and Georgia Impact. Coach Herrera is currently an area director for Global Sports Association and is the owner of Universal Sports Association.
A Douglasville native, Herrera grew up in Winston, Georgia, where she attended Alexander High School. She was a standout three-sport athlete in high school, excelling in softball, basketball and soccer. As a varsity starter all four years in softball, she earned top honors in being named Player of the Year by local sports writers as well as the Region 5-AAAA North Georgia Player of the Year by coaches across the state her senior year. She was also selected to the North/South All Star team.
As a four-year varsity starter in soccer, she was selected to the All-County/All-Region Team in each of her four seasons.
She
was recruited by Gordon Junior College where she accepted a scholarship to play softball and soccer. Herrera decided, however, to return home and continue her education at West Georgia Technical College. Herrera is currently pursuing her
degree at West Georgia Tech in Radiology Technology.
Stephanie has been married to her husband, Ricky, for ten years and they have two children: Rachel, 9, and Jake, 6. She loves sports and is thankful to be able to have the opportunity to do something she loves. She enjoys spending time with her family
and is currently a member of Church at Chapel Hill in Douglasville, Ga. She currently resides in Winston, Georgia.
Assistant Coach Jordan Melson
Jordan Melson is beginning her college coaching career at West Georgia Tech. Melson brings past experience as an assistant
coach from middle and high school teams.
Melson was a part of the Golden Knights inaugural season as a player last fall before deciding to go the coaching route.
The Cartersville, Georgia native attended Woodland High School, where she lettered four years on the varsity softball team. Melson’s numerous on-the-field accomplishments include: Kennesaw State University’s Bobby Bailey Female Athlete of the
year award, a North/South All-star team selection, Georgia Showcase Team Elite Sixteen selection, and All-County and
All-Region
Team selections.
Melson is majoring in nursing at West Georgia Tech and aspires to be a physician’s assistant specializing in orthopedics. She resides in Taylorsville, Georgia.
Assistant Coach Reshard Boykin
Reshard is entering his first season as the Women's Fast Pitch Assistant Coach with the West Georgia Technical Golden Knights.
Boykin is a graduate of Villa Rica High School. He played tennis in high school and participated in various intramural sports in the community. He has a love for baseball and continues to play in several baseball leagues in the area, and has coached on a recreational level for many years.
Boykin attended Abraham Baldwin College in Tifton, Georgia. Boykin is married to Rachel Boykin, and they reside in Villa Rica. He has two children Mackenzie (6), and Harley (4).
