  • Thursday, December 3, 2015, 9:00 am at Douglas Campus | 5:00 pm at Lagrange Campus

Tentative Schedule (All programs will last about 2 hours)

    I. General Session – Welcome and introduction to WGTC! We’ll go over the student handbook, policies, procedures, athletics, Student Life programs we offer, and campus safety stuff.

    II. Advising information - We’ll go over all the resources you have available to help you succeed.

    III. Financial Aid and Business Office Session - In this session we’ll talk about everything you need to know about how to pay for your classes.

    IV. Self service Banner web Session - In this session we’ll explain how to log in and register for your classes, view your bill and important deadlines.

    V. Registration - You will have an academic advisor available to help you register for your classes in your program of study.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ’s)

Will I need to bring money to orientation?

You won’t need any money for the actual program but you may want to bring some money if you would like to grab a snack or if you want to buy some golden knights gear in the West Ga Tech bookstore!

Will I have to pay tuition and fees at Orientation?

No, you are not required to pay tuition and fees at orientation. Please check Self Service Banner web and the West Georgia Tech website for information about fee payment deadlines. *Your classes will be dropped if you do not pay fees by the deadline so make sure you check out the deadlines here:

Will there be food served at Orientation?

The program should last no more than 2 hours so there will not be food provided at orientation, however if you bring some snack money you can find vending machines conveniently located in hallways as well as the student center and snacks can be purchased at the bookstore.

What will happen at orientation?

We will introduce you to all the things you need to know to be successful at West Georgia Tech. During orientation you will meet key individuals on your campus, advisors, and other students! You will be advised and registered for classes and get your student ID. We can’t wait to have you join the West Georgia Tech Family!

Do I have to attend orientation?

Yes, but why wouldn’t you want to? All new students or students who have been out for 1 year must attend orientation. This is a chance for you to get warmed up before the big first day of class. We want to make sure you’re comfortable with your campus, your classes, and your schedule. Orientation is also a great time to meet other students! Make sure you sign up for orientation as soon as possible so that you’ll get the date and campus location of your choice.

Do I need to do anything before I attend New Student Orientation?

Yes! Make sure you do the following before orientation:

  • Login to your Self-Service Banner Web account
  • Login to your student email account and begin checking your email regularly
  • Instructions for Self-Service Banner Web and student email are enclosed
  • If you haven’t applied for financial aid, apply online at, with WGTC school code 010487
  • If you have applied for financial aid, check your Self-Service Banner Web account for outstanding documents or for your financial aid award

What if I am not able to login to my Self-Service Banner Web or my Student email?

Sign up for orientation and when you arrive, inform staff at check-in that you were not able to login. We will assist you through your login and you will continue with orientation

Do I need to bring anything with me?

Bring your acceptance letter & Admissions Evaluation (needed for advisement)
Bring a picture ID

What if I lost my acceptance letter?

Arrive a little early to Orientation and we can reprint you a copy.
