Fire Science - Associate of Applied Science Degree

The Fire Science AAS degree program is a sequence of courses designed to prepare fire service personnel at all levels to become better officers and leaders. The program provides learning opportunities which introduce, develop, and reinforce academic and occupational knowledge, skills, and attitudes required for job acquisition, retention, and advancement. Additionally, the program provides opportunities to retrain and upgrade present knowledge and skills. Completion of the program of study leads to an AAT degree in Fire Science.

PROGRAM LENGTH
A minimum of 113 credit hours is required for graduation. A full time student can expect to complete the program in 8 - 9 quarters.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES
Graduates may find employment as firefighters, leaders and officers in the fire service industry.

ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS
Age:
Applicant must be 18 years or older.
Education: A high school diploma/GED is required.
Program Acceptance/Placement: Applicant must achieve program ready or provisional scores on the ASSET placement test (or submit acceptable SAT/ACT scores.) Applicants who do not attain the minimum scores may take refresher/remedial instruction in order to meet admissions requirements.
