  Financial Aid - How to Apply for Financial Aid

Georgia residents who have resided in the state for at least 1 year prior to the date of enrollment and are pursuing a diploma, associate degree and specific certificates should complete:

Admission requirements and

A WGTC Financial Aid Application (2008 - 2009)

A HOPE Scholarship and Grant Application online at www.gacollege411.org to apply for HOPE. Instructions for completing the application are listed below under financial aid forms.

A Free Application For Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to apply for federal assistance. FAFSA applications are available online at www.fafsa.ed.govor paper applications are available in the financial aid office. Be sure to print the signature page and mail it to the Central Processor before transmitting your FAFSA application. West Georgia Tech's school code is 005614. Not all certificate programs are eligible for Federal financial aid. Please check with the financial aid for the specific program eligibility.

Non-Georgia Residents who do not meet the residency requirements to be classified as a Georgia resident must complete:

Completing your Financial Aid File:

Some (FAFSA) applications are selected for verification. Applicants completing the Free Application for Student Financial Aid ( FAFSA )are subject to having their application reviewed under a process called verification. At least 30% of applications for financial assistance are randomly selected for review.

Applicants selected for verification must submit:

• A signed copy of his/her last year's tax return
• Verification worksheet
• Documentation of untaxed income

Other documents as determined by the Financial Aid Office.
