Your instructor has been associated with West Georgia Technical College for more than 29 years. Various curriculum changes and programs options for the Drafting Program have been developed under his leadership. He has devoted the last 41 years of his career in the field of drafting and/or teaching.

After graduating from North Georgia Technical and Vocational School in 1966 with a diploma in drafting, he entered the workforce as an entry level drafter for West Point Pepperell, Inc. He worked with many different drafting disciplines including: plant layouts, HVAC design, sprinkler installations, lighting and power distribution, structural, and general drafting skills.

During his tenure he was named drafting room supervisor after six years of service and remained in that position until 1979. Troup County Area Technical School, now West Georgia Technical College, offered him a position as drafting instructor at that time. He brought to the classroom a wealth of drafting knowledge and engineering department experience that cannot be found in any textbook.

Jerry has developed, taught, and attended many AutoCAD workshops since 1983. His board background and AutoCAD skills is an asset to the program. He successfully passed the Certified AutoCAD Operator exam when it was first offered in 1990. Delmar Publishers, Prentice-Hall, and McGraw-Hill/Glencoe have used his expertise to review and contribute to several textbooks in the drafting/CAD field.

All of the current drafting courses offered at the college were either developed by Jerry or in conjunction with a consortia of drafting instructors in which he had direct input. The drafting program has evolved from a traditional board drafting concept to the current AutoCAD based curriculum under Jerry's guidance. He currently serves as state-chair for drafting technology programs.

His classes are available during the day, evening and some even online. Email, call or snail mail Jerry for more information.
