Library Information

LIBRARY MISSION

To serve the educational community of West Georgia Technical College by supporting the curriculum and the professional and personal information needs of the students, faculty, staff, and other users of services of the College. Through its resources, services, and personnel, the Library strives to acquire and make accessible a well-balanced collection of materials in a variety of formats to support the College’s instructional programs at the degree, diploma, and certificate levels, as well as to stimulate and encourage independent development and life-long learning.

(This statement was accepted by the Library Advisory Committee on May 24, 2000 with further revision in March 2003 and April 2004.)

COMPUTERS

Library patrons have use of current software applications and the Internet.  Campus libraries at our Carroll, Coweta, Douglas, LaGrange, and Murphy campuses have computer labs for student and public use; software available includes Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint. Computers are available in the library for educational use only.

LIBRARY GUIDELINES

No food or drinks are allowed in the library.

Reference materials do not circulate--you may use them freely within the library.

In order to check out materials, you must have a library card or student ID card.  Non-students 16 years old or older may obtain a card by filling out an application at the circulation desk and showing a picture ID.
You must present your card each time you wish to check out materials.

Circulating items may be checked out for two weeks unless an instructor has placed a restriction on the time. If no other person is waiting for the item, you may renew the item.

You are responsible for items checked out on your card--DO NOT ALLOW OTHERS TO USE YOUR CARD.

If you are accompanied by children under 16, you must provide supervision and/or materials for them to work with.

Current West Georgia Technical College students have preference in using computers.  With your library privileges, you agree to abide by the library and TCSG acceptable use policy.
