Because West Georgia Technical College enthusiastically promotes a global understanding of diverse cultures  and an ever-changing economy, it  offers all students the opportunity for short-term study abroad. The trips are no longer than 10 days and allow students to travel abroad to immerse themselves in another culture and earn credit toward their diploma and degree courses.

Study Abroad accepts students for the study abroad trips based on an application and interview process, and they must meet the following WGTC study abroad requirements to receive approval for the trips:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Present a current unofficial transcript to Study Abroad along with their application
  • Include a complete application packet, including two written recommendations from West Georgia Technical College faculty and a personal statement expressing the students’ motivation for taking part in the study abroad

Preference given to  West Georgia Technical College’s diploma or degree program students who have completed a minimum of 12 credit hours and have maintained at least a 3.00 GPA. The cost to participate varies based on the destination. All student participants pay all of the following:

  • Study Abroad Trip Fee
  • Airfare
  • Travel Insurance
  • Tuition and Fees

Student Government Association provides partial funding depending on the cost of the trip.
