West Georgia Technical College welcomed the addition of intercollegiate sports and our new coaching staff Winter Quarter of 2008. Competitive sports included men's basketball and women's volleyball during the athletic program inaugural year. Fall 2008 welcomed the addition of the cheerleading program. Fall 2009 will include a women’s basketball program in addition to our current programs.
Practice times for all sports are established AFTER rosters are filled and student schedules may be analyzed. Practice locations vary depending on gym availability. Prior experience is not required for any sport.
Games will be played both home and away on Saturdays. There are no overnight trips but transportation for players/coaches is provided for away games.
Admission for all games is $3 for adults, free admission for children under 12.
All games are FREE for any current students, faculty, and staff from any Technical College System of Georgia college with proper school ID.
Eligibility Requirements
Individuals wishing to play college sports at WGTC must:

Be a student in good standing; enrolled in a credit program seeking a Technical Certificate of Credit, Diploma, or Degree, and be admitted regular or provisional status;

Not be a dual-enrolled high school student;
- Be enrolled as a full-time student, having 12 or more credit hours in each term in which play takes place;
a. For cheerleading & noncompetitive sports - no credit hour minimum,
but must be enrolled in a credit seeking program.

Maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA both cumulative and for each enrolled term;

Complete college league forms including:
a. Release Waiver of Liability
b. Student Athlete Code of Conduct
c. Notification of Random Drug Testing
d. Grade Release Form (to coaches and league commissioner)
e. complete a physical exam prior to practice
