WGTC Document Derby Days

Welcome! West Georgia Technical College is thrilled that you are interested in attending our institution. Our WGTC Document Derby Day events are designed to quickly assist students with completing their admissions file and FAFSA before the upcoming semester begins!

 

What is WGTC Document Derby Days?

WGTC Document Derby is an event where students can complete their admissions file with the Admissions department and their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) with the Financial Aid Department. New or Returning students who have applied but have outstanding documents can come to this event to submit their missing documents to complete their file. New students will come to complete a paper application on-site, have the $25.00 application fee waived, and bring the required documents for acceptance to complete their file on the same day.

 

Can I attend if I have been accepted to West Georgia Technical College?

Yes! WGTC Document Derby Days are designed to assist new, transfer, returning, dual enrollment students who have not been admitted for the fall semester. Students can troubleshoot any issues, ask questions and prepare to begin classes in August.

 

When and Where are WGTC Document Derby Days held?

  • October 6, 2021- 12 pm-6 pm | Campus: Coweta, Carroll, Douglas, & LaGrange
  • October 27, 2021- 12 pm-6 pm | Campus: Coweta, Carroll, Douglas, & LaGrange
  • November 17, 2021- 12 pm-6 pm | Campus: Coweta, Carroll, Douglas, & LaGrange

 

Am I guaranteed to complete my admissions file at a WGTC Document Derby Day?

You will need to either have an application on file or complete an application once on campus. The $25.00 application fee will be waived at the event. You will need to provide proof of residency, and lawful presence-this is normally a Georgia DL issued 12 months prior to the first day of the Fall semester (August 16, 2021).  Information on Verification of Lawful Presence may be found here: https://www.westgatech.edu/admissions/tuition-and-fees/

Provide official high school or GED equivalency transcripts and official transcripts of any previous college coursework. You may need to provide additional information based on your situation.

 

How do I complete my admissions file?

You will need to complete an admissions application, provide proof of residency and lawful presence, submit an official high school transcript/equivalency, and possibly official an official transcript of any previous college coursework. You may need to provide additional information based on your situation.

Dual Enrollment students need to submit placement test scores, Accuplacer, PACT, ACT, PSAT, SAT scores, or HOPE GPA after completing the 10th grade.

I have submitted an Admissions Application and the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA); what should I do before attending a WGTC Document Derby Day?

Check your email address for correspondence regarding missing items, or contact us https://www.westgatech.edu/contact-us/ to see what missing documents you will need to bring to a WGTC Document Derby Day.

 

How will I complete my FAFSA or know if I can receive financial aid?

If you are not a high school student, you will need to visit FAFSA.ed.gov to complete your FAFSA. Complete your FAFSA before attending a WGTC Document Derby Day. After your FAFSA is submitted, it can be processed in as short as 48 hours. If you complete your FAFSA at least 48 hours before attending a WGTC Document Derby Day event, Financial Aid experts may be able to confirm your submission. However, if students are selected for verification, the completion process may be longer. **Selected for verification means you will need to provide additional information to complete your file. The document(s) required will be determined by your situation.

Once a FAFSA is submitted and processed, our Financial Aid experts could reveal what financial assistance may be available. Students will not be able to receive or utilize the funds rewarded until they are registered for classes.

What is an official transcript?

An official transcript is sent electronically or submitted in a sealed envelope from the issuing agency to West Georgia Technical College.

 

Am I required to take the Accuplacer exam?

Due to COVID-19, placement scores are not required for admissions for traditional students’ acceptance until Fall semester 2022. Students applying before Fall 2022 are not required to take the Accuplacer exam or submit test scores for admissions acceptance.

*Dual Enrollment, high school students are required to meet the placement test requirement.
