Giving at WGTC

Giving at WGTC

Founded in 1989, the West Georgia Technical College Foundation, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation whose purpose is to increase financial support and/or additional resources for WGTC and to support the College’s mission.  Additionally, the Foundation will provide resources that support workforce development and help students build better lives. The vision of the WGTC Foundation is to provide resources and support that better position West Georgia Technical College (WGTC) as the premier technical college in the state of Georgia.

West Georgia Technical College, a unit of the Technical College System of Georgia, supports student success, economic development and the community by providing a skilled workforce through the delivery of relevant education and training opportunities.

In its over three decades of existence, the West Georgia Technical College Foundation has been fortunate to work alongside community leaders, corporate partners, alumni, faculty and staff, and friends to enrich the student experience through private financial support. The West Georgia Technical College Foundation has identified the following areas as priorities for its fundraising efforts:

  • Financial Need-Based Student Scholarships
  • Gap Funding Program
  • Adult Education Program
  • Project CARE
  • Capital Outlay Projects

These gifts have changed thousands of students’ lives, modernized classrooms, purchased state-of-the-art equipment, and supported the high-quality workforce development programs for which the college is known. Our success is shared in that it would not be possible without the generosity of our community.

Helping to Ensure Affordability & Access

West Georgia Technical College remains committed to providing affordability and access to all students. West Georgia Technical College Foundation is committed to assisting the 7,000+ students served by the College each year. Scholarships are awarded every semester and each year hundreds of students receive scholarships and grants from our Gap Funding program that help lighten barriers to affordability and access. Additionally, our Project CARE program provides personal emergency assistance for nearly 100 students each year.

With a 99% placement rate for West Georgia Technical College graduates six months after graduation, employability remains top-of-mind for us. Additionally, on average, 65% of our student body are categorized as economically disadvantaged by Department of Labor standards, thereby underscoring the importance of employability post-graduation. The majority of our students work at least one job, if not more than one, and many have families to provide for as well. Despite these personal circumstances, our students are resilient and dedicated, and time and time again, we remain impressed by their work ethic, commitment, and personal drive.

Leaving a Legacy Gift

West Georgia Technical College is proud to have served the West Georgia area for over 50 years, but we haven’t done it alone. Many partners – people, companies, civic organizations, and foundations – have made our success happen. We are looking forward to another 50 years and more – with you at our side.

You may feel compelled to mark your legacy in your community through a gift to West Georgia Technical College Foundation in support of a capital outlay project or naming opportunity.
