Everyone is invited to the Awards Program and Reception on March 21 at 3 p.m. in the Douglas Campus Community Room. Come see the Showcase and Merit Award Winning Pieces.
The Art Exhibit is an annual creative arts event open to all students, faculty, and staff who create an artwork such as a drawing, painting, sculpture, or take an unusual or creative photograph and wish to enter.
Entries may be made by photographing your artwork and uploading it to the completed Submission Form, according to the Guidelines. There can be no more than two entries per person. This event is to provide a creative arts opportunity for our student body, as well as faculty and staff, to be recognized for their talent. Submissions are solicited during the Fall Semester with an early Spring Semester closing date.
Judging by area artists not affiliated with the college will take place early in the Spring Semester, with an Art Awards Program and Reception on the Douglas campus to recognize the two groups of winners: the Showcase winners and Merit winners.
Winners will be notified by email by the end of February and will be asked to bring in their artwork in preparation for the Awards Program/Reception. The winners and their families will be invited to the Awards Program/Reception.
The Guidelines and Submission form are posted on the website, as well as the date and location of the Awards Program and Reception. All winners and all entrants are invited to attend the Awards Ceremony and Reception.
2018 Art Exhibit Submission Guidelines
West Georgia Technical College will hold its annual Art Exhibit to name Showcase and Merit winners. Submissions will be accepted online beginning October 2, 2017 and ending on February 9, 2018. The Exhibit will highlight creative individuals and their work that are part of our college community. Submissions will be accepted from the following:
- Current students of WGTC
- Recent graduates of WGTC (2017 to present)
- Current staff and faculty members of WGTC
- Retired staff and faculty members of WGTC
- Members of WGTC’s various boards and advisory committees
Submissions must be the creative work solely of the submitter; we will not accept submissions made on behalf of anyone who does not fall into one of the categories above. All works submitted must be display ready. Pastels or charcoals must have a sealant applied and photos must be matted or framed for display. There is a limit of two entries per artist. All works submitted according to the guidelines outlined here are eligible to have their work considered for inclusion in the Art Exhibit.
Submission does not guarantee display; due to space limitations we may not be able to physically display every submission.
All correctly submitted artwork from current students (2017-2018) are eligible for cash awards.
We will accept submissions starting Fall Semester 2017 and close the submission process February 9, 2018. A photo of each individual artwork must be accompanied by a submission form. Artwork without submission forms will not be accepted for consideration. The online submission form must be used; complete the information and submit along with a photo of your artwork. A separate submission form is required for each artwork. Please submit your art as a photo attachment to your submission form and email to email@example.com. Artists whose works are chosen for physical display will be contacted to bring in their work for the Awards Reception and display.
