West Georgia Technical College Names Christy Smith as Associate Dean of Health Sciences
DOUGLASVILLE, GA – West Georgia Technical College (WGTC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Christy Smith as the new Associate Dean of Health Sciences. Smith brings nearly two decades of experience in higher education and allied health to the role.
“This opportunity is a dream come true,” said Smith. “It allows me to continue doing what I love; supporting students, empowering faculty, and helping prepare the next generation of healthcare professionals.”
Smith earned her bachelor’s degree in healthcare management with a specialization in gerontology and a master’s in education focused on adult learning and e-learning.
Prior to joining WGTC, Smith served as Program Director for Medical Assisting and Healthcare Management and as Department Chair of Allied Health at Southern Crescent Technical College. In these roles, she led curriculum innovation, faculty development, and programmatic accreditation efforts, achieving outstanding results that enhanced both academic quality and student outcomes.
