STEP 1: Register to attend orientation.

Summer 2020 Admitted Students:  If you’re entering WGTC starting in the Summer 2020 semester you get to skip this step! No registration is necessary. Instead, all students starting in Summer 2020 will be required to attend online orientation – please proceed to step number two!

Fall 2020 Admitted Students: To register for orientation log into your Self-Service Bannerweb account here.

Once logged in, scroll down that first page and click on “orientation” then fill out the Fall 2020 Orientation Survey to reserve your spot. Make sure you write down the time, date and location you select!

STEP 3: Register for classes!

Summer 2020 Admitted Students:  Once you’ve completed online orientation we will be notified and your Orientation Hold will be removed. Please allow 1-2 business days for your hold to be removed. You will be notified via email once your hold has been removed and then you will be able to register yourself for classes using Self-Service Bannerweb. Login to Bannerweb to register once your hold has been removed.  Has it been 2 business days and you’re hold is still there? Contact us at wgtcorientation@westgatech.edu

Fall 2020 Admitted Students: Once you’ve completed the general session you will be accompanied to a computer lab where you will register yourself for classes using Self-Service Bannerweb.

FAQ

Q:I’m attending face-to-face orientation, will I need to bring money to orientation?
A:

You won’t need any money for the actual program, but you may want to bring some money if you would like to grab a snack or if you want to buy some Golden Knights gear in the WGTC Bookstore!

Q:Will I have to pay tuition and fees at Orientation?
A:

No, you are not required to pay tuition and fees at orientation. Please check Self-Service Banner Web and the WGTC website for information about fee payment deadlines. Your classes will be dropped if you do not pay fees by the deadline so make sure you check out the deadlines here.

Q:I’m attending face-to-face orientation, will there be food served?
A:

The program should last no more than two hours, so there will not be food provided at orientation; however, if you bring snack money you can find vending machines conveniently located in hallways as well as in the Student Center. Snacks can also be purchased in the bookstore.

Q:What will happen at face-to-face orientation?
A:

We will introduce you to all the things you need to know to be successful at WGTC. During orientation you will meet key individuals on your campus, advisers and other students. You will be advised and registered for classes. We can’t wait to have you join WGTC!

Q:Do I have to attend orientation?
A:

Yes, but here’s why. All new students or students who have been out for two years must attend orientation. This is a chance for you to get warmed up before the big first day of class. We want to make sure you’re comfortable with your campus, your classes and your schedule. Orientation is also a great time to meet other students! Make sure you sign up for orientation as soon as possible so that you get the date and campus location of your choice!

Q:Do I need to do anything before I attend New Student Orientation?
A:

Yes! Please make sure you do each of the following before orientation:

  • Log in to your Self-Service Banner Web account
  • Log in to your WGTC Student Email account and begin checking your email regularly
  • Download your program’s Program Completion Checklist and bring it with you to orientation
  • If you haven’t applied for financial aid, apply online at https://fafsa.ed.gov, with WGTC school code 010487
  • If you have applied for financial aid, check your Self-Service Banner Web account for outstanding documents or for your financial aid award
Q:What if I am not able to log in to my Self-Service Banner Web or my WGTC Student Email?
A:

Put in a helpdesk request here: https://www.westgatech.edu/help-center/

Q:Do I need anything for Orientation?
A:

You will need your Admissions Evaluation (needed for advisement)

And your Program Completion Checklist that you can find here: https://www.westgatech.edu/student-advising/program-completion-checklists/

Q:What if I lost my Admissions Evaluation?
A:

You can email admissions@westgatech.edu or if you’re attending the face-to-face orientation we can print you another when you check in.

Q:What If I can’t attend face-to-face orientation?
A:

Due to the current global pandemic all orientation sessions for Summer 2020 will be held online. Typically all students would be required to attend a face-to-face orientation and online orientation will become available the day after regular new student face-to-face orientation is over. Fall 2020 online orientation will be made available July 23rd for anyone who cannot attend face-to-face orientation.
