I chose Early Childhood Care and Education at WGTC because I want to shape young lives and help children grow, knowing those early years are where it all begins. My experience has been incredible. The program and instructors have built my confidence and made student teaching truly meaningful. Being part of the classroom each day, you build strong relationships with students and become more than a student teacher—you become a role model they look up to.

I am passionate about making a significant impact on small businesses, and I believe that because of scholarships, I am one step closer to realizing that dream. Donors investment in my education not only benefits me but also contributes to the communities I hope to serve.

The West Georgia Technical College Dental Assisting program has prepared me for my future success in more ways than one. WGTC has given me an edge by being able to learn from and think like the doctor I wish to become. I now have the tools to study at the college level. With a hands-on job like dentistry, it is great to have a program that fosters knowledge and fine motor skills!

WGTC has prepared me for my new journey in Precision Manufacturing and Maintenance by helping me learn more about the different types of machines, tools, and overall skills that I will need for my future career. I hope to encourage young women to come join the team and change the mentality that these kinds of jobs are only for men.

I’m working to become a welder. As a welder you’re not limited; you can work anywhere in the country and there is flexibility and good pay. My recommendations to other young women considering non-traditional careers would be to be willing and open to exploring new things. Research the things that they are interested in. Ask questions.

I hope that by my going back to school at my age in a non-traditional role I can show other women that they can do it too, especially in manufacturing.  I hope that I am also showing my daughter that she can do anything she wants to do in this life, and she should never let being a woman hold her back from her goals.

As I am gracefully aging, I recognize there is still work to be done within myself, my community, and an opportunity to leave a family legacy. Receiving a scholarship and grants will be part of my success towards 'It takes a village' to achieve greatness, as success is never gained by one's own talents and resources.
