Trisha Pomerville Toty 26CARROLLTON, GA – Trisha Pomerville, an instructor in the Adult Education program at West Georgia Technical College (WGTC), has been named the 2026 Outstanding Adult Education Teacher of the Year by the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG). The statewide honor recognizes educators who demonstrate exceptional dedication to student success, leadership in the classroom, and innovation in adult education.

TCSG Commissioner Greg Dozier presented Pomerville with the award and a check for $2,500 during the Dinah Culbreath Wayne EAGLE Institute, held March 10–11 at the Crowne Plaza Atlanta Perimeter at Ravinia.

Upon receiving the award, Pomerville shared her appreciation for the honor and for the impact adult educators make every day.

“It is truly an honor to be named the Outstanding Adult Education Teacher of the Year and to represent the supportive, dedicated, and inspirational adult educators who empower learners and transform lives across the state of Georgia,” said Pomerville.

Pomerville was selected from among four finalists by a panel of judges representing business, industry, and higher education across Georgia. Selection criteria included teaching experience, leadership ability, professionalism, innovative teaching techniques, community involvement, and a strong commitment to the field of adult education.

“There are many special individuals who give of themselves to help others overcome hurdles many of us will never truly understand,” said West Georgia Technical College President Dr. Julie Post. “Trisha has a gift. She shines in the classroom, creates extraordinary learning experiences, and is amazing with students. We are blessed that she works in our communities and proud of her for winning this well-deserved award.”

For the next year, Pomerville will serve as a statewide ambassador for adult education in Georgia, representing the TCSG Office of Adult Education (OAE). In this role, she will make appearances across the state to promote adult education initiatives. She will also be honored by the Georgia General Assembly and receive a personal commendation from the Governor.
