The scholarships cover a wide range of educational expenses including tuition, books, and other related costs. Recipients were selected based on their academic achievements, financial need, and commitment to their chosen fields of study.
“This record-breaking year reflects both the generosity of our donors and the determination of our students,” said Brittney Wells, executive director of institutional advancement for the WGTC Foundation. “Scholarships do more than help cover the cost of an education; they remove barriers and give students the opportunity to stay focused on completing their education and building a better future. We are incredibly grateful to our donors and partners whose investment in our students makes this impact possible.”
Alysa Easter, a nursing student and a Carroll EMC Robert D. Tisinger Scholarship recipient, thanked her donor for supporting her goals.
“This scholarship has made a meaningful difference in helping me stay focused on my goals while managing the financial demands of nursing school,” Easter said. “Your continued generosity motivates me to keep working hard and striving toward excellence in my studies and future career. This scholarship is helping me take important steps toward making a positive impact in healthcare and in my community.”
During the fiscal year, the WGTC Foundation received a generous $75,000 gift from Doug and Carol Mabry to establish the Doug and Carol Mabry Scholarship. The scholarship provides $1,000 for one Diesel Equipment Technology student and $1,000 for one Welding & Joining Technology student every fall, spring, and summer semester.
The WGTC foundation also established the Stanley H. Bressner Family Adult Education Scholarship for graduates of the Adult Education Program that are continuing their education at WGTC in a certificate, diploma, or degree program. Two students every semester are awarded $1,000 each, with the ability to renew for one additional semester.
The WGTC Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization established in 1988 to encourage, solicit, receive and administer gifts and bequests of property and funds for the benefit of the college and its students. Partnerships and gifts enable the foundation to support the best possible learning environment for our students.
