West Georgia Technical College Hosts Microsoft Career Networking Event at Douglas Campus
DOUGLASVILLE, GA — Nearly 100 students from West Georgia Technical College (WGTC) and area residents participated in a technology-focused career networking event at the college’s Douglas Campus on Tuesday, March 10. The event connected students with professionals from Microsoft who attended the event as industry participants and provided practical guidance to help them strengthen their résumés, refine their LinkedIn profiles, and prepare for careers in the rapidly growing digital infrastructure industry.
Hosted by WGTC, the career networking event featuring participation from Microsoft representatives included interactive roundtable discussions, panel discussions, a Datacenter 101 lunch session, and direct engagement with Microsoft professionals who shared insights on technology career pathways and workforce opportunities.
Students had the opportunity to ask questions, receive feedback, and learn about the skills and experiences needed to pursue careers in the expanding digital infrastructure and data center ecosystem.
“This event was extremely successful in helping WGTC students to gain hands on exposure with Microsoft and connecting them directly with industry professionals,” said Zelma Jones, Career and Student Support Services Director. “Students were able to learn insights into data center operations, cloud infrastructure and high demand career pathways, which will strengthen their technical knowledge and build their confidence for their future careers.”
The event highlighted the growing demand for skilled technology specialists and reinforced WGTC’s ongoing efforts to prepare students for careers in high-growth industries through hands-on learning, industry engagement, and career readiness opportunities.
“Across Georgia and globally, the demand for skilled professionals who build and maintain the digital infrastructure that underpins our economy is growing at an unprecedented pace,” said Microsoft State Government Affairs Director Codeye Woody. “Events like this help students see the exciting possibilities ahead by connecting education with real-world career pathways and the opportunity to be part of building the technology systems that keep our communities, businesses, and industries moving forward.”
