Learn-2-Earn is an integrated education and training program that focuses on impacting individuals through short-term education and training programs designed to quickly move participants toward securing and sustaining a livable wage. Targeted, contextualized classes through West Georgia Technical College’s Adult Education Program are designed to help individuals successfully pass the GED® exam, align with short-term industry recognized training, and be successful in the workforce.

Learn-2-Earn Participant Benefits

Students may choose from the following program options of Childcare, Hospitality, or Manufacturing to complete their training and receive the following industry-recognized credentials:

Welding

  • Prepares students for careers in the welding and joining industry.
  • Students earn the Basic Shielded Metal Arc Welder certificate
  • Develop skills in one of Georgia's most in-demand career fields
  • After earning the accreditation, students often continue to pursue advanced welding certifications
  • ***This welding certification course is only offered in the fall

CDL (Commercial Truck Driving)

  • Students earn the Commercial Truck Driving certificate
  • West Georgia Technical College offers a top-quality program with a high success rate
  • Learn in-demand skills in an industry that is always searching for new talent

CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant)

  • Students earn the CNA certification
  • Nursing assistants/aides work in nursing homes, home care, assisted living, hospice, hospitals, community based long-term care, correctional institutions and other long-term care settings
  • Students receive hands-on training in a highly employable field

Entrepreneurship - Small Business

  • Prepares students for general business operations, branding, and more
  • Flexible class offerings and opportunities to continue in WGTC's Marketing or General Business programs

Childcare

  • Develop skills within the field of Early Childhood Education through college courses
  • Have the opportunity to earn the Early Childhood Care and Education Basics certificate
  • Participate in hands-on work experience in a local daycare facility

Customer Service and Hospitality Training

  • Preparation for the Certified Guest Service Professional Exam
  • Develop skills in Communication, Interviewing, Team-Building, and Customer Service
  • Tourism Specific Training

  • Develop skills in Equipment Basics, Equipment Inspections, Operating Procedures
  • Earn 2 credentials (OSHA 10 and Forklift Safety and Operation)
