WACO, GA – West Georgia Technical College (WGTC) will hold a groundbreaking ceremony on Thursday, May 16 at its Murphy Campus in Waco to kick off construction on the new Murphy Industrial Building. The celebration will begin with the “Spark the Flame” Cocktail Hour at 4:30 p.m. followed by the groundbreaking ceremony at 5:30 p.m.

The new industrial building will introduce trade and tech programs to the Murphy Campus, which currently lacks an industrial and manufacturing curriculum. The building will accommodate the Commercial Truck Driving, Apprentice Lineworker, and Welding programs and feature a 40-booth welding lab, classrooms, and community space.

WGTC is launching the “Spark the Flame” campaign to support ongoing student opportunities within the future space. This initiative seeks to raise $1 million to equip the welding lab in the new Industrial Building.
