Planning for each semester is a very important step. The best tool you can use for your first semester is your Program Completion Checklist.

If you are enrolled in a Competitive Selection Program, please be sure to attend the mandatory competitive selection informational session that is given by the advising center coaches. They are here to help you enter these programs.

Program Completion Checklists help students understand the requirements for their desired program of study. Your advising coach can also print sheets for multiple programs and certificates to increase your employment potential.  These sheets will help you understand how to make progress and complete your program in a timely manner.

When emailing an Advising Coach or any WGTC staff, always use your student email and include your student ID number. This helps verify your identity and ensures your privacy under FERPA regulations.

Registration happens each semester. It is important to register early to choose available courses. Log into Knighthawk Navigator to register for classes. See the Attached PDF or video below to learn how to register for classes.

New Student Orientation is required for new students. It is scheduled a month before the next semester starts and just after the previous semester ended. A student that has been accepted will have an e-mail sent to their student e-mail address as well as their personal address to help ensure that the student will be aware of the opportunity they will have to attend the orientation.

There are several options for new student orientation. Live sessions are on Lagrange and Murphy campuses. Virtual orientation is available and self-paced is another option. For more information, you can email wgtcorientation@westgatech.edu.

Orientations are held to assist students with knowledge and details about WGTC. They cover important information all students need to know.

At orientation, students will be given information about programs and folders with helpful tips about being successful in college. WGTC staff working in financial aid, WIOA, and career services are available to meet with students to offer helpful information and assistance about support services.

After the orientation session, different groups of students will be escorted to another area of the school to explore the campus and meet with advising coaches and faculty. They will assist students in the registration process.

Textbooks and Course Materials
Most classes at West Georgia Technical College require textbooks or access codes. You can find your required materials listed in your syllabus on Blackboard, available once your course opens on the first day of class.
Before purchasing used textbooks, check with your instructor to be sure they're acceptable. The WGTC Bookstore always has the most current information on required materials and purchasing options.
If you're using financial aid, funds may be available to help cover textbook or access code costs. Visit your campus bookstore with your class schedule before classes begin to check your book funds. Bookstore accounts are updated daily. You can find bookstore locations and hours on the WGTC website.

Attendance and Success
Your attendance matters! Whether classes are on campus or online, showing up and staying engaged is key to success. Many online courses include weekly deadlines, so be sure to complete all assignments, tests, and projects on time.
