Contacting the Financial Aid Office FAQ

Contacting the Financial Aid Office FAQ

Q:Why is no one answering the phone or returning messages?
A:

The response time can be longer during peak times—the weeks before and after the start of a semester.  During peak times, priority is given to walk-ins.  To ensure that you receive a response to your message, please have voicemail set up on your phone and clear old messages to allow for new ones.  Voicemail messaging not being set up and full mailboxes are the most common reasons messages cannot be returned.

Q:What other resources are available to answer my questions?
A:

The answer to most questions can be found in Banner Web.  It has been revamped to be more user-friendly with more details on how financial aid is awarded.  Individual awards have hyperlinks that provide more detail on the eligibility requirements of a specific fund—Pell Grant, HOPE Grant, HOPE Scholarship, HOPE Career Grant, etc. Also, we launched FATV three years ago that is an excellent resource for general financial aid questions from how to apply for financial aid, types of financial aid programs, State of Georgia Financial Aid programs, verification, Satisfactory Academic Progress, Programs, personal finance, etc.  These short videos are informative and available for viewing 24/7.  You can check out FATV at: https://westgatech.financialaidtv.com/.
