Health Information Management Technology

Technology is transforming health care, opening up a new world of opportunities for health information management (HIM) professionals with specialized skills in collecting, analyzing, and protecting vital patient information and medical records.
Mission Statement
The mission of the Health Information Management Technology (HIMT) program is to provide educational opportunities that prepare students to serve our communities of interest by providing them with technical knowledge and skills necessary to process, maintain, analyze, and report health information data according to legal, accreditation, licensure and certification standards for reimbursement, facility planning, marketing, risk management, utilization management, quality assessment and research. Graduates of the program are eligible to receive national certification as a Registered Health Information Technician through the American Health Information Management Association.
Vision Statement
The HIMT program vision is that each graduate will achieve the necessary skills and the Registered Health Information Technician national certification to enter into a fast paced and competitive workforce with confidence to succeed.
