Dental Hygiene

Registered dental hygienists are credentialed and licensed health professionals who serve integral roles in the delivery of oral health care. Georgia Workforce 2014 ranked dental hygiene a field that is “fast growing, high-paying, and expected to offer plentiful job openings over the projected period.”

The Dental Hygiene program is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) and regulated by the Georgia Board of Dentistry.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Dental Hygiene program at West Georgia Technical College is to educate, prepare, and graduate students equipped to provide a wide variety of preventive, educational, and therapeutic services supporting total health and wellness for the prevention and control of oral diseases.  The program mission, structured curriculum, and commitment to the dental hygiene profession ensures students’ preparation for the National Boards and Central Regional Dental Testing Services.  Upon completion of this highly competitive and challenging program, students are prepared for employment in dental offices, community and educational settings, and public health and insurance industries.
