Registered dental hygienists are credentialed and licensed health professionals who serve integral roles in the delivery of oral health care. Georgia Workforce 2014 ranked dental hygiene a field that is “fast growing, high-paying, and expected to offer plentiful job openings over the projected period.”

The Dental Hygiene program is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) and regulated by the Georgia Board of Dentistry.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Dental Hygiene Program at West Georgia Technical College is to educate, prepare, and graduate highly skilled dental hygiene professionals committed to promoting total health and wellness through the prevention and control of oral disease. Through a structured, student-centered curriculum, the program fosters the development of strong clinical, technical, and critical thinking skills. The program's commitment to excellence ensures that students are thoroughly prepared to graduate and be well equipped to provide comprehensive oral health care and education in private dental practices, public health, community, and educational settings.
